UNION’S LAB -Vol.1-

living × jewelry

We have given much thought into bringing jewelry, their materials and designs, into functional products for living spaces. To this end, we have been running a design competition with the cooperation of the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry which is the only jewelry-design certifying technical college in Western Japan. The competition focuses on the theme of designing hardware items used in daily life, such as handles, furniture knobs and coat hooks, etc. The contest is incorporated into actual classes as part of the student curriculum.
We have invited Mr. Tsutomu Kanaya of Cement Produce Design to judge the competition. Mr. Kanaya not only serves in this role throughout, from the first to final stages, he also advises the students during the production process. In addition he is to hold a talk session with Mr. Takashi Kobayashi, an instructor at Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry, and our President Junzo Tatsuno for the presentation event.
This event is also a part of the Machi Décor 2014 design event.
