UNION’S LAB -Vol.3-

living × wagashi

In recent years, it has often been said that people are losing their sense of seasonal change in daily life. The associated traditions are also disappearing.
In the past, our ancestors lived in more direct proximity to all aspects of Nature. In their food and crops, they lived closer to the changing seasons. They must have felt a greater joy and gratitude for each of the very distinctive four seasons.
UNION meets WAGASHI.
'Tsumami' (pinched art) is inspired by beautiful traditional Japanese sweets.
We explore how this approach might be used in architectural hardware for new residential spaces.
